Books from Scratch! Home-Made Guided Reading Lessons
Are you a teacher of Kindergarten and First Grade students who needs more books than what is offered within the levels of your Literacy Footprints kits?  Would you like to learn, or review, how to plan a lesson using Jan Richardson’s Early (D-I) Guided Reading lesson plan format?  If so, this session is for you!  We will model how to plan a lesson using a bookroom book that is not in your Literacy Footprints kit including all the ingredients needed for a satisfying Guided Reading lesson: a thematic gist statement, a tantalizing book introduction, a pinch of word work, a dash of prompting, a dollop of strategy, and much more than a smidgen of comprehension work and writing.  And of course we will provide home-made cookies.

A New View, a New You: Unlocking Limiting Beliefs and Developing New Patterns
Work-related stress is an ongoing issue that impacts the effectiveness of the job performance of professionals in a variety of fields. This is especially true for teachers and the current demands of various outside factors. Research shows a direct correlation between teachers who feel stressed and a reduction in their desire to be effective instructional classroom leaders. While the ongoing demands of teachers are most likely not to change, a teacher's ability to handle stressful situations may. This session focuses on implementing strategies that may lead to a new and better you, both in and out of the classroom.

Participants will identify limiting beliefs or other inner roadblocks that hold us back from being the best version of ourselves. From there, participants will identify new partners of change to implement within their daily or weekly schedule to overcome their limiting beliefs and unlock a new version of themselves. Lastly, participants will outline goals they want to achieve in the next day, week, month, term, semester, and year and identify potential accountability partners to reinforce these new patterns while also celebrating goal achievements.
